The long Roll up Rhotang (4000m)

After rainshowers all night we were pleased to see gaps of blue in the whispy clouds veiling the pine and deodar forest that creep up the mountain slopes. We headed to the halfway point of Marhi around 37km from Manali. This is the only real spot to break this 50km climb of just under 2000m up to the 4000m pass.

The pelaton: me, dale and leeanne lapping up the loops!

Dale super impressed with the sweet road surface (that was soon to run out at Marhi) 'You call this mountain-biking? Note: the fab deciduous forests.

Cycling in the clouds - and she is still smiling. Lovely roadside flower kept Cath and I busy snapping away.

Dhabba in the Mist. A welcome spot for a cuppa chai kindly offered to us all by some newlyweds (Manali is a big local honeymoon destination).

Beautiful bride

Marhi: a hodgepodge of dirty dhabbas with views down the incredible Kullu valley. Taken from our campsite.
